about

I've always been a bit shaken up by thriller films. The kind of films where there is always a life-or-death decision, sacrifice, a moral/philosophical dilemma. And I think there are some parallels with how we would deal with situations like that and moving to a different place. I find myself internally processing mantras and words inside to keep myself calm and prepared for each day. Lest my mind runs too wild. Starting somewhere new especially. Being surrounded by languages you can't understand so well and have no escape from. So I pieced together those two themes in an abstract way and this is the result. The debut single for Novelty Citizen.

Bear in mind, this track is a rather large departure from stuff I was doing before. More electronics. And as I write new songs, more improvised instruments to make up for stuff that isn't available. Einstürzende Neubauten remain a big influence for this reason.

I think these changes make for some really wonderful things. Nothing to fear...

Yours truly,

(November 2014- Pisa, Italy)

lyrics

The men are at it again
they're back at work.

The peace keeper's left his job
ran out of lackeys to fleece

And I see the red moon rise
we have something to look at now

and I needed a pocket to hold
to keep my change

we are soon to leave

and the docking bay is clear,
there is nothing to fear
open up your little ears
there is nothing to fear
latch the doors in the rear
there is nothing to fear,
nothing to fear
there is nothing to fear...

Below dry land
the frost is melting

Islands open thermokarst
perusing heat-seeked visions

And I see your reflection
in the lake below

and I see your movement
in the shadow of the moon

the station's on its last legs
we are soon to leave

and the docking bay is clear,
there is nothing to fear
latch the doors in the rear
there is nothing to fear
and the docking bay is clear
there is nothing to fear,
open up your little ears
there is nothing to fear...
